Week 5 Review: Triptych

From Goodreads:
In the city of Atlanta, women are dying—at the hands of a killer who signs his work with a single, chilling act of mutilation. Leaving behind enough evidence to fuel a frenzied police hunt, this cunning madman is bringing together dozens of lives, crossing the boundaries of wealth and race. And the people who are chasing him must cross those boundaries too. Among them is Michael Ormewood, a veteran detective whose marriage is hanging by a thread—and whose arrogance and explosive temper are threatening his career. And Angie Polaski, a beautiful vice cop who was once Michael's lover before she became his enemy.

But another player has entered the game: a loser ex-con who has stumbled upon the killer's trail in the most coincidental of ways—someone who may be the key to breaking the case wide open...

My Review:
This was another amazing mystery by Karin Slaughter! I loved reading it again, I remembered the two big twists, I remembered who the bad guy was, and how he framed his cousin for his previous crimes. But I'd forgotten the story. So it was good to reread it!

For me, this book isn't my favourite of the series. We have a beginning in Michael's POV, then we have a back and forth of this random that wasn't so random ex-con, and then finally we were in Will's head. Sure, that beginning portion was important to the story, but I wanted to be in Will's head, darn it!

I really didn't like Michael. He just had something wrong with him, and knowing that he was the bad guy, that made sense. But his actions, what we got from being in his head, they weren't murder bad. They were just asshole bad. Bah!

It's funny, the way the investigation went. That the prostitute that John knew just turned out to be Angie, yeah, you can't always get that luck! Bad for John, good for the case. And that it helped in taking down Michael before he caused anymore harm!

I really enjoyed this book, it was just so great, and I can't wait to reread more of this series!
